Safe
Place Services
At your YMCA, "life
guard" means so much more than enforcing water safety. It means that
every day a teen in Louisville needs someone to gently guide him to make
the right choices. Safe Place Services offers free 24-hour assistance
to really make a difference in the lives of teens and their families.
Every day Safe Place
Services comforts teens in a caring environment, and helps young adults
and their parents discover new ways to reach out to each other. For over
25 years Safe Place Services has been reaching out to teens; now, that's
real life guarding!
Please visit our web
site to find out how you can enrich your life by belonging to more than
just a fitness center.

FAQ
Did you know?
Since 1974, YMCA Safe Place Services has touched the lives of thousands
of teens in crisis and their families. Our yellow and black signs have
become a beacon of hope for them . . . a symbol of security, support,
and guidance. We've mobilized our community to ensure immediate help for
teens who feel they have no other place to go, and no other place to turn.
Through crisis intervention, counseling, outreach, and prevention, we're
providing a continuum of care that not only gets our youth the help they
so desperately need, but prevents many situations before they progress
to more serious circumstances.
How many teens
does the YMCA Safe Place Services counsel?
Safe Place Services in 2007 served a total of 1,742 youths through a continuum of care that supports at-risk youths in a variety of programs. Right here in Louisville, 738 youth walked into a community Safe Place location seeking help and another 367 were counseled by phone last year.
What type of help
does Safe Place Services offer?
Our areas of service include: crisis intervention, family mediation, outreach, prevention, and youth development. We not only offer help to teens, but their families and loved ones as well.
