Child Care At your YMCA, "push up" means so much more than 30 reps before breakfast. It means that every day your YMCA child care programs help to lift up the lives of more than 6,000 kids each year. This isn't just baby-sitting. The YMCA provides character development, physical and educational activities for kids, every day. Every day the YMCA
collaborates with local schools to provide before- and after-school care
for children. We also work with local businesses to provide preschool
care for infants and toddlers. Parents rely on us to keep their kids safe
in a warm, caring environment; now, that's uplifting! For more information, FAQ For how many children does the YMCA care? The YMCA of Greater Louisville is the largest provider of child care in Kentucky. We serve over 6,500 children a day, in infant, toddler, preschool and school-age child care. How many Child Care locations does the YMCA run? We currently have 6 preschools and 67 school age sites. Who are the YMCA's Child Care partners? Our partnership with the Jefferson County Schools is going on its 18th year. The partnerships in Bullitt County and in our parochial and private schools are approaching their 10th year. Is the YMCA licensed for Child Care? All of the YMCA's child care centers/sites are licensed by the State of Kentucky and meet or exceed state child care licensing guidelines. How much does YMCA Child Care cost? No child is ever turned away. At all YMCA child care programs, because we are state licensed, we can accept a third party subsidy (such as Purchase of Day Care and 4C) to pay for child care expenses. For those parents who do not qualify for these third party subsidies, but cannot afford the full price of child care, we offer financial assistance through the YMCA's Share the Care Program. How much financial assistance does the YMCA provide? This past year (2001), we financially assisted approximately 550 children each month in our school-age programs and approximately 98 children in our infant, toddler and preschool programs. Did you know? All of the YMCA of Greater Louisville's Child Care programs are currently (voluntarily) participating in the STARS for KIDS NOW child care center rating system, as part of the Governor's Initiative, and working on NAEYC and NSACCA Accreditation.
