Learn the basics, improve your basketball skills and make new friends! Here at the Y we make sure that every child gets to play and that games are safe, fair and most of all fun.

Our Y Youth Basketball registration is going on now for kids 3-14. The season runs January - March.

PLAYER ITEMS

When you sign up for Y Youth Basketball, you not only learn how to play the sport, you also get a team jersey, a team picture and an end of the season award!

This is an introduction to the sport of basketball and we focus on dribbling, passing and shooting, along with offense and defense. We use a 27.5" ball and a 6-foot goal. Our officials take an active role in coaching as well as teaching the rules of the game.

Teams practice directly before each game for 20 minutes. Games are held on Saturdays at Barret Middle.

There will be a $10 late fee added after December 5, 2011.

RATES

This is a further introduction to the sport of basketball, emphasizing the rules of the game. We focus on offense and ball handling skills while introducing some basic defense moves. We use a 27.5" ball and a 8.5' goal.

Teams practice once a week at the Chestnut Street Family YMCA. Games are played on Saturdays or Sundays at Barret Middle.

There will be a $10 late fee added after December 5, 2011.

Teams practice 1 or 2 nights a week. Practices are available Monday-Friday evenings at the Chestnut Street Family YMCA. Games are held on Saturdays at Kammerer Middle or at the Berrytown Family YMCA. Teams may travel to other Y's for some games. All teams will participate in an end-of-season single elimination tournament at the Basketball Academy; which will be held during the final weekend of the season (March 10-11, 2012).
