Y Basketball Leagues teach kids the basics of the sport while also helping them make new friends, stay active and learn new skills that will help them succeed in life. We're committed to coaching with a focus on fair play, healthy competition and parent participation.

AGE 3 & AGE 4 | FALL & WINTER COED BASKETBALL

For our youngest players, we focus on introducing the game of basketball and basic ball-handling skills like passing, dribbling and shooting. Coaches and officials take an active role in teaching at this level. Six-foot gals and smaller balls are used. Teams will rotate through skill stations for approximately 30 minutes before each scrimmage game. There will be a minimum of 5 games, with as many as 6.

Program fees will increase $15 after the registration deadline. Late registrations may be accepted until the first game if there are open spots available.

AGES 5-6 | FALL & WINTER COED BASKETBALL

Children at this level continue to develop basic skills and begin to learn the rules of the game. The primary focus is on offense and ball-handling and coaches and official emphasize learning throughout the game. A one-on-one defense is introduced. Eight foot goals and 27.5 inch balls are used. In the Fall, teams will practice once a week before each game. In the Winter, teams will have one practice and one game per week. There will be a minimum of 7 games, with as many as 8.

Program fees will increase $15 after the registration deadline. Late registrations may be accepted until the first game if there are open spots available.

AGES 7-8 | FALL & WINTER COED BASKETBALL

With a continued focus on fundamental skills like ball-handling and shooting technique, coaches choose their own defense at this level. We use a 27.5 inch ball, an 8-foot goal and teams play full court. In the Fall, this division will practice before each game. In the Winter, teams will have one practice and one game per week. There will be a minimum of 7 games, with as many as 8.

Program fees will increase $15 after the registration deadline. Late registrations may be accepted until the first game if there are open spots available.

AGES 9-10 | WINTER COED BASKETBALL

AGES 9-10 | WINTER GIRLS BASKETBALL

Teamwork is emphasized in this age bracket and passing, shooting and defensive skills are strengthened. Coaches choose their own defense with limited pressing. Teams use a 28.5 inch ball, 10-foot goals and play full court. Teams will have one practice and one game per week. There will be a minimum of 7 games, with as many as 8 and teams will travel to other Y's in the area for games.

AGES 11-12, 13-14 & 15-17 | WINTER COED BASKETBALL

AGES 11-12, 13-14 & 15-17 | WINTER GIRLS BASKETBALL

These divisions continue to emphasize skill development and teamwork. Passing, shooting and defensive skills are strengthened and the importance of physical fitness and conditional is stressed. Teams play full court with 10-foot goals and all basketball rules apply, with limited pressing. Teams have one practice and one game per week. There will be at least 8 regular season games, with as many as 10, and teams will travel to other Y's in the area for their games. Teams in these divisions will participate in an end-of-season, single-elimination tournament held the final weekend of the season (March 21-22, 2015).

Program fees will increase $15 after the registration deadline. Late registrations may be accepted until the first game if there are open spots available.
