MEMBER NOTICE - COVID-19 UPDATES - ALL YMCA LOCATIONS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
We had hoped to reopen next week, but the actions to protect our communities through social distancing and stay-at-home initiatives continue. As long as the orders remain in place to keep us safe and healthy, our membership branches will remain closed until further notice. As previously shared, all group activities such as youth sports, swim lessons, youth programs, and senior programs will remain suspended during this time.
We remain optimistic that we will be able to proceed with a delayed start with many of our programs like youth sports, swim lessons, and more. We have implemented a "No Risk Enrollment Policy" to make it easy for you to stay with us! There is no risk to you remaining registered or inviting friends to enroll. You may cancel at any time before your program session begins (for which we'll give you plenty of notice) and receive full credit.
If you have questions regarding your YMCA membership or program registration, please call 502.587.9622 (Mon-Fri: 8 am-8 pm, Sat: 8 am-2 pm, Sun: 10 am-2 pm) or email
firstname.lastname@example.org. Please check back here frequently for the most up-to-date-information as we learn more from health officials.
The YMCA is the nation's favorite swim instructor, and we have been teaching people how to swim for 100 years. We believe that swimming is an important life skill that children should have the opportunity to learn early in life.
Research shows that formal swimming lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by 88% among children ages 1-4 years. Studies connect many additional benefits including improved motor skills, cognitive development, strength, self-esteem and social confidence.
We offer a wide range of options for the whole family with classes beginning at 6 months of age, all the way up to adults. Swimmers are divided into groups by ability and our trained, certified instructors work to develop skills and confidence in and out of the water. Our lessons are available year-round with daytime, evening and weekend classes at multiple locations and financial assistance is available.
The Y has been teaching swimming for over 100 years with nationally-certified and highly-trained instructors. Our lessons focus on essential, life-saving skills and techniques while helping encourage swimming as an excellent tool for lifelong wellness. Swim lessons provide a wealth of benefits that go far beyond the water.
YMCA swim lessons are available year-round at multiple locations and are designed to ensure safety, success and fun for all participants. Lessons are available for all ages, starting as early as 6 months old. Whether you are a beginner or just want to improve your skills in the water, we have a class that is right for you!
With a wide variety of schedules available and affordable program rates for all, the Y is always here for you.

At the Y, one of our top priorities is helping youth practice safety around water. As of October 3, 2016, anyone age 13 and under using YMCA pools will be required to take a swim test. Swim testing is a way to increase our level of vigilance with water safety. Our swim tests and swim lessons also give children a sense of achievement as they move towards the green swim level
The YMCA of Greater Louisville's Swim Access - Safety Around Water Program is designed to provide access to pools and basic swimming skills and water safety for children who do not have access to swim lessons. The curriculum is designed to teach children the basic skills necessary to swim 10 feet back to safety.
