Welcoming Week (9/10-9/19)




Pick up your EXPAND YOUR WORLD Welcoming Week Activity Card at all YMCA of Greater Louisville locations to find fun activities you can complete with the whole family! 

Check out these special Welcoming Week activities at local YMCA branches: 

CHESTNUT STREET FAMILY YMCA

September 11 (9 am-12 pm)
Vaccination Event hosted by the Chestnut Street YMCA in partnership with Greater Salem Baptist, Kentuckiana Nurses Association and Covid-19 Response Louisville Metro Public Health and Wellness Department 

September 11 (11 am-12 pm)
Find Your Roots – Youth Leadership Program Kick Off This youth-led program allows students to learn about, advocacy, compassion, immigration, and how to combat harmful stereotypes about immigrants and refugees in a local, national, and global context.  

September 14 (6 pm-7:30 pm)
Listening Session with Fund for the Arts President and CEO Andre Kimo Stone Guess hosted by the Chestnut Street YMCA in partnership with the African Community of Louisville.  The focus of the session is to understand the opportunities and challenges that Fund for the Arts and the African immigrant and refugee community can work together to build synergies that will have impact on the African Arts community in Louisville,

REPUBLIC BANK FOUNDATION YMCA

September 15 (3 pm-7 pm)
Welcome Fair & Open House  - Information and cultural/health fair

YMCA AT NORTON COMMONS

Will have activities in Kids Club through the week; they will work on coloring sheets, learn what it means to be a Welcomer and read books that have a welcoming theme. 

SOUTHWEST FAMILY YMCA 

Will have recipe cards representing different countries printed and available for members to take. Kids’ Club is also planning a Welcoming activity daily.
