Our Swim Team acts as a bridge for those participants who have surpassed the most advanced level of swim lessons and are preparing to swim on a competitive swim team. Participants must be able to swim 25 meters continuously without a float belt. Swimmers learn competitive swimming skills while being challenged through practices that emphasize stroke development, time improvement, teamwork and developing a healthy lifestyle.
- Participants will practice 3 days a week- Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at either 5:30 pm-6:15 pm or 6:15 pm-7:00 pm based on the swimmer's age and ability.
- 10 years old and under must be able to swim 25 meters freestyle and backstroke and be able to demonstrate breaststroke and butterfly. 11 years old and older must be able to swim 100 meters freestyle and a 100 meter IM (one length of the pool of each of the following strokes: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle).
- There are 2 sessions each year: August – December and January – March. Swimmers may register and participate in 1 or both sessions but must compete in at least 2 regular swim meets to be eligible for the Championship meet in March.
- Tryout/evaluations for new swimmers will be held prior to each session. Check at the branch for dates and times.
