YOUTH BASKETBALL

Y Basketball Leagues teach kids the basics of the sport while also helping them make new friends, stay active and learn new skills that will help them succeed in life. We're committed to coaching with a focus on fair play, healthy competition and parent participation.

AGES 3-4 COED

The focus is on introducing the game and basic ball-handling skills like passing, dribbling and shooting. Six foot goals and smaller balls are used. Teams will practice for 15-20 minutes and then play a short game each week. 

AGES 5-6 COED

Players develop basic skills and begin to learn the rules of the game, with a focus on offense and ball-handling. Eight foot goals and 27.5 inch ball are used. Teams practice once a week and have one game each week.

AGES 7-8 BOYS | AGES 7-8 GIRLS | AGES 7-8 COED

With a continue focus on fundamental skills like ball-handling and shooting technique, coaches choose their own defense at this level. We use a 27.5 inch ball and a 9 foot goal and teams play full court. Teams practice once a week and play one game each week.

AGES 9-10 BOYS | AGES 9-10 GIRLS

Teamwork is emphasized and passing, shooting and defensive skills are strengthened. Teams use a 28.5 inch ball and a 10 foot goal and play full court. Teams practice once a week and play one game per week which may include some travel to other YMCA locations.

AGES 11+ BOYS | AGES 11+ GIRLS

These divisions continue to strengthen skills in passing, shooting and defense. Teams play full court with 10 foot goals and a regulation ball. High School basketball rules apply with limited pressing. Teams have one practice and one game per week, with travel to other YMCA locations if there aren't enough teams signed up at one location.
