Program Details

Ages: 4–13 years (Co-ed teams)

Season Dates:
Field hockey is offered year-round through seasonal leagues, clinics, and team training.
Registration typically opens several weeks before each season or clinic. Programs are currently held at the Oldham County Family YMCA.

Practice & Game Schedule:

  • Weekly practices and seasonal games
  • Game and practice schedules are released at the start of each session
  • Indoor play is held at the YMCA Indoor Arena; outdoor games are played on the field

Program Levels

Little Stix (Ages 4–6)
A fun, skills-focused introduction to field hockey for our youngest athletes. Players build confidence and coordination through drills and games designed to teach basic attacking and defensive skills. This program is structured as a weekly clinic.

Youth Field Hockey (U9, U12, U15)
Designed for players of all experience levels. Teams in each division blend beginners and experienced players to foster peer learning. Coaches focus on skill refinement, positional play, stick techniques, and game strategy. Players may be introduced to trick shots and creative moves in a supportive, competitive environment.

School/Club Team League
Our team-based league offers established school and club field hockey teams a place to compete during fall and winter sessions.

Equipment Needed

All athletes must bring:

  • Size-appropriate field hockey stick
  • Mouth guard
  • Field hockey shin guards
  • Indoor play: tennis shoes (no cleats)
  • Outdoor play: cleats permitted

Jersey and socks are provided at the start of each season.
