The YMCA’s Babysitter Training course equips teens with the tools they need to stay home alone and care for younger children with confidence. This program blends expert instruction, peer discussion, and hands-on practice—ideal for teens looking to build independence or explore their first job opportunity.

What You'll Learn

This fast-paced, engaging course covers essential babysitting skills through interactive lessons, videos, and discussion. Participants will gain practical knowledge in:

  • Supervising infants and children
  • Diapering, feeding, and handling bedtime routines
  • Managing discipline and behavior challenges
  • Recognizing and preventing safety hazards
  • Communicating with parents and guardians
  • Finding, interviewing for, and managing babysitting jobs
  • Responding to emergencies, including infant and child CPR
  • Rescuing a choking infant or child
