How It Works

The YMCA offers nationally recognized CPR and First Aid training to equip individuals of all backgrounds with the knowledge and confidence to respond in emergency situations. These instructor-led classes are hands-on, interactive, and applicable in both everyday and professional settings.

Participants will learn to:

  • Perform CPR for infants, children, and adults
  • Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Relieve airway obstructions and perform rescue breathing
  • Operate as both a solo and team rescuer
  • Respond to sudden cardiac or first aid emergencies
  • Understand the Cardiac Chain of Survival

Certification Options

We offer multiple nationally recognized certification tracks. Certifications are valid for two years and meet a wide range of personal, professional, and workplace requirements.

American Heart Association (AHA):

  • Heartsaver CPR & First Aid: Designed for those with little to no medical training
  • Healthcare Provider CPR/AED: Required for lifeguards, nurses, EMS professionals, and allied health students

American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI):

  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer & Basic First Aid: Similar in scope to AHA courses and accepted by many employers
