How It Works

Our Forever Young/Active Older Adults group provides a welcoming way to stay healthy—physically, mentally, and socially. Through fitness classes, social activities, and community outings, members build strength, flexibility, and friendships in a supportive, age-friendly environment.

Why Join Active Older Adults at the Y?

Build Strength & Mobility

Enjoy age-friendly exercise classes that support balance, flexibility, and endurance.

Stay Social

Make new friends and stay connected through group events, games, and outings.

Boost Confidence & Mood

Movement, laughter, and community all play a part in healthier aging.

Activities & Outings

Throughout the year, branches offer a variety of in-person events that bring older adults together in fun and engaging ways. Examples include:

  • Luncheons and themed socials
  • Trivia, bingo, and craft days
  • Half-day field trips to local attractions

Most activities require advance registration and may include a small fee based on the event.

Fitness Classes

The Y offers several dedicated fitness options just for older adults. These classes are included with membership and vary by location. Here are a few examples:

  • Forever Fit
A low-impact, high-energy group class that includes cardio, strength training, stretching, and relaxation. Great for beginners or those with limited mobility.
  • Shallow Water Aerobics
A one-hour, low-impact class held in the pool. Ideal for cardiovascular health and joint support—no swimming skills required.

Please check with your branch for the full schedule of classes available near you.
