How It Works
YMCA Youth Achievers is a mentoring program that provides young participants with monthly enrichment rooted in cultural awareness, social-emotional learning, and character development. Youth connect with role models and peers while exploring their identity and developing the skills to thrive in and outside of school.
Two levels of programming are available:
- Elementary School (Grades K–5): Builds foundational self-esteem and cultural awareness through fun and engaging activities.
- Middle School (Grades 6–8): Offers deeper exploration into leadership, life skills, and preparation for high school—and ultimately, life.
Enrichment activities include:
- Mentorship from professional role models
- Leader in Me workshops
- Health and wellness sessions
- Financial literacy
- STEM learning
- Community service projects
- Educational field trips and multicultural experiences
- Mini-college tours and career fairs
There are no academic prerequisites to enroll. Many participants continue their journey by enrolling in the YMCA Black Achievers program in high school.
