How It Works
Launched at the Southwest Family YMCA in response to low kindergarten-readiness scores, Early Learning Readiness helps bridge gaps in access to preschool.
This free program offers families a safe, supportive space to grow and learn together. Each session includes:
- Songs, stories, and creative play
- Activities that promote motor skills, social development, and school readiness
- Peer support and learning for caregivers
Its holistic approach emphasizes play-based learning, caregiver involvement, and culturally responsive support.
Classes are offered in English and Spanish, depending on location. Community partnerships and YMCA staff provide guidance and resources to set families up for success before kindergarten
The Impact of Early Learning Readiness
Since its founding, the program has grown to serve more than 300 families across Greater Louisville, including one location taught entirely in Spanish.
