Each February, the YMCA Black Achievers program hosts its annual Celebration of Excellence. This signature event recognizes graduating seniors, presents scholarships, and honors Adult Achievers who uplift our community through service and professional excellence.

46th Annual Celebration of Excellence and Achievement
At the 2025 Awards Celebration, we honored all graduating seniors—including Youth Achiever of the Year, Makayla Brown—and recognized several impactful adult leaders: Adult Achiever of the Year, Corenza Townsend, Distinguished Achiever, Damion Lee, and Legacy Award recipient, the late Thomas Cork Sr. The evening was hosted by DeAndria Turner of WLKY and featured a powerful keynote by Jeff Jenkins, host of National Geographic’s Never Say Never.
