YMCA Camp Piomingo’s Leadership Development offers programs for teens ages 15-17 that build confidence, leadership, and connection—whether they are exploring the outdoors or stepping into mentor roles, it’s a powerful next step in their camp journey.

Leaders-In-Training (15-16 yrs)

Ages 15–16 | 2 weeks

The Leaders-In-Training Program (LIT) is the first part of the Leadership Development Program at YMCA Camp Piomingo. Through this 2-week program, the LITs will learn and develop leadership, communication, and life skills—all while connecting with their peers and participating in camp activities.

As part of the program, LITs will be going on a 4-day canoeing trip down the Ohio River with Ohio River Way! They will start their journey in Louisville and end back in Otter Creek Recreation Area.

The curriculum in this program is created in partnership with YMCA BOLD & GOLD.

Two Week Sessions 

June 14 - June 26 | July 5 - July 17

Counselors-In-Training (16-17 yrs)

Ages 16–17 | 3 weeks
For those ready to take on responsibility, CIT offers immersive, hands-on leadership development. Teens shadow camp counselors, assist with younger camper groups, and build skills in decision-making, conflict resolution, and group management. Enrollment is by application and interview.
