In observance of Mental Health Awareness Month, the YMCA of Greater Louisville is hosting a number of classes, both in-person and virtual, on essential mental health topics.

  • Mental Health Matters: How to Support Yourself and Others—VIRTUAL

    May 7, 12–1pm Virtual—Zoom

    Start off Mental Health Awareness Month by joining us for an online session on how to support your mental health. This event will provide practical strategies to help you navigate stress and pressure in your everyday routine. From tips on setting healthy boundaries to finding balance amid life’s demands, you'll gain valuable tools to support your mental well-being. Don’t miss this opportunity to prioritize self-care and build resilience for a healthier mind this month and beyond!

    May 8, 6–7pm at Republic Bank Foundation YMCA

    Grief is a natural and necessary response to loss—both a reaction and a vital part of the healing process. Join us for a meaningful conversation about how grief can lead to growth and transformation. This session will provide insights into the grieving process and offer guidance on navigating it in a way that fosters healing and resilience.

  • Caring for Yourself While Caring for Others: Supporting Mental Health in Caregiving—IN PERSON

    May 13, 1:15–2:15pm at Northeast Family YMCA

    Providing care for a loved one is complicated. While it definitely has its rewards and benefits, it can be isolating, as well as physically, emotionally, and financially difficult. Please join us for the opportunity to connect with other caregivers to share stories, methods of coping, and learn about resources in our community that can provide some relief!

Join us to gain tools to support children’s mental well-being and build resilience all summer long.

  • Speak Through Art: Expressing Your Language Journey—IN PERSON

    May 20, 5:30–6:30pm at Southeast Family YMCA

    Participants will explore the connection between emotions and language through abstract art. Using colors and shapes, participants will visually express feelings associated with speaking and learning English. This creative exercise encourages self-expression, deepens emotional awareness, and fosters a supportive space for discussing language learning experiences. No artistic experience is needed—just an open mind and a willingness to explore emotions through art.
